Cleared Boca inlet around 7am in hopes of finding a mahi school or 2. Made a quick stop on the beach looking for bait but as has been the usual, nothing home. Ran straight east and found our first promising rip around 800. Set up the spread and within 10min boated our first keeper, but after 30 more minutes of nothing but weed picking we packed up and headed east again. Smartest move we made. At about 1600 we found great current and a temp break. It wasn't long before we had mahi swarming the spread. After gaffing a bull and 2 nice keepers on our first pass, we shut down and chunked up the schools. Ended up catching about 20, kept 13 and it wasn't long before 8-10 boats within 300yds of us looked to be doing just as well. Definitely more quality fish than earlier this month.
After about an hour of catching we left in search of some bigger fish. Nothing else on the troll so we booked back to the inlet with a stop at the deeper reefs for a few drops. Each drop yielded bites or bent rods. Managed 4 beefy bonitos on the jig and a healthy vermillion on cut ballyhoo.
