Cuda 12 Fly Fishing Cockpit Cover

I've gotten into kayak fly fishing lately and quickly figured out one of the hardest aspects about it is fly line management. The fly line seems to get caught on every little thing possible so I needed a way to better manage the fly line while standing and casting from my kayak. My first solution was to simply lay a towel over the cockpit area but the ends would hang over into the water and sometimes the wind blew it completely off the kayak. After losing several towels that had blown into the water and sank I knew I needed to find a better solution. I thought about buying a neoprene sit inside kayak cockpit cover and modifying it but being as self-aware as I am realized I’m not that talented and it wouldn’t look as good as I’d like. The final solution came to me while sitting at a red light in Marco Island, directly to my left was a big box truck with “Marco Island Canvas” printed on the side. I quickly wrote down the number and called to discuss my project with them. They told me to bring the kayak by so they could look at it and give me an estimate. I explained the situation and I liked the plan we came up with and cost estimate so I said “Let’s go for it”. They are a very busy place so it took 4 weeks before they could get to my job but when the call came in I dropped off my kayak and 3 hours later I picked it back up. They did a great job and nailed everything I wanted. Now I’ve got a nice flat surface to strip my fly line onto without having to worry about it catching on anything. I can’t wait to try it out.
