This year the Tarpon were slow in terms of numbers compared to past trips but there were still plenty of fish around. They seemed to mainly concentrated in the deeper channels rather than on the flats. Permit were also scarce on flats and probably wont be back inshore in numbers for another 10 days or so. We had shots at few larger fish in the lakes last Saturday but no takers. Tarpon seem to be slow to eat the flies during the day but if you have live bait late in the day in most channels it is just a matter of a few minutes at the most before you are hooked up. I caught two in KW on the trip and probably could have hooked some more but gave it up for a chance on the fly. The weather was really great and we still had a large variety of fish caught during the day at Marquesas including a grouper, snapper, some larger jacks to 15 lbs., big cudas and some black tip sharks. We even saw a couple of Cobia. Over the next two to three days I caught several more Tarpon in different locations up the keys in and toward Cudjoe Bay.

The trip was allot of fun. Thanks to Glen our fearless master of the keys we were able to experience the joys of the area. It takes allot of effort for someone to drag around the crowd and show them your fishing spots. Year after year Glen is willing to share his knowledge of fishing spots to the fellow Egret forum members.I cherished every hour I had down there in the water. The views are spectacular and you can always find fish. Getting them to eat a fly. That is another thing. Thanks again Glen.

Actually Pete he is a complete whiny wimp that let a little hull slap get into his head. I’ll still let him hang out with me though.

But after Pete sent him helplessly spiraling into the Abyss with the with his Trash Can comment! I don't think he could ever come back from that. The lid was slammed shut! Well played Saltwater Junkie!:rotflmao

I knew eventually I would hear some flack. I just do not want to throw Glens post too far off topic and keep the peace .

Phill--- Remember when Pete called you gay in Franks house. Not that there is anything wrong with that. I thought you would never recover.:willynilly

Pete---You may want to look for one of them Trashy garbage cans and use it to clean that "Dirty Bird" out.

Frank should of had the new boat wrapped like a candy cane. Then he could of called it the Spearmint Rhino!

I'm going to the everglades tomorrow for the day to recheck some tracks and try to catch some fish. And then I have a charter on Sunday. Keep your boat on the trailer and you can launch it over here tomorrow evening or on Monday and avoid the marina dropping and driving dilemma.

It would look like a barber pole and we would all be asking him for a haircut! This May get together should be done twice a year, once in May and Once in May Not.

Thanks Glenn I’ll see you when you return.

Egret Landing has a mapping chip to be released soon for the route . We left at 6 ish out of Sumerlin and stopped in Key West for fuel. We came back in the dark. It was a dark you do not get to see in the main land. There was no light noise and the sky was clear. It looked like we were driving in a star theater.
