We left the dock around 6:30 a.m. and left out new pass to seas less than one foot. Cruised out to our first stop at about 31 miles. Fished 70' with cut mullet, octopus, and threads. Tons of shorts and the bite was kind of slow. We managed to put 4 Red Grouper in the box by 11:00 a.m. and then soon after tide went slack. The fishing shut off so we decided to just run out to 85' of water and troll around and look for bottom. Trolled right by a pod of about 40-50 porpoise. The fishing didn't yield much by 1:30 so we headed back in to 70' and the tide was moving again. the fish were biting but just couldn't get a 21"er. We called it a day at around 3:40 p.m. and headed back in with some sloppy seas.
