Former George W. Bush aide rips Jeb Bush for ‘kissing the ring’ of billionaires

Matthew Dowd, who was chief strategist for George W. Bush’s 2004 campaign, on Sunday ripped Republican presidential hopefuls for lowering themselves to “kiss the ring” of billionaires like Las Vegas casino tycoon Sheldon Adelson.

During a Sunday panel segment on ABC’s This Week, host George Stephanopolous noted that many potential 2016 candidates like former Gov. Jeb Bush, Gov. Scott Walker, Gov. John Kasich and Gov. Chris Christie had already met with Adelson.

“I think it’s ridiculous that these candidates for president are trumping out to Las Vegas to go kiss the ring of a billionaire casino owner,” Dowd said. “And they think that’s somehow going to help them get elected president.”

“I think money matters so much less than your own capacity as a candidate,” he continued. “What is your message? What’s your vision for the country.”

“They would be much better off spending time back where they live — instead of flying to Las Vegas — and figuring out what’s their message, what’s their vision, and how are they going to covey that to the American public.”

He knows he's in America and this isn't 2004, doesn't he?

Well, I remember in '08 lots of people were saying Obama won because he had so much more money than McCain. But, in '12 Romney had just as much money as Obama and still didn't even come close to beating him. Does take more than money.

Considering it takes money to get your message out, I tend to disagree. Obama set the scale in 2012. The Presidency is now a billion dollar office. If you ain't got that, you probably aren't getting elected. I expect both candidates will spend over a billion in 2016. If Hillary runs, she has the advantage, donation wise.

Is Mr. Dowd unaware of the SCOTUS' Citizens United decision?

Money talks, BS about message and vision and how to convey it to the American people walks.

After getting their instructions from the Vegas mob, these GOP "titans" will be grovelling before the leading pornography tycoons.

Then, it's off to a big "family values" event.

Ever notice how sometimes adults are having am intelligent conversation and a moronic child who actually believes he has something intelligent to contribute tries to join the conversation and then makes himself look even more stupid that everyone even thought possible.

So sad, wonder if Louie's parents always found him to be an embarrassment or did it just start when he started reselling Mexican chum and the fumes burned out the few brain cells the booze had missed.

In what fantasy world do you live in?

Fewer than 400,000 votes combined, separated the two in the states of OH, VA, and Florida...which had they gone to Romney, would have given the electoral vote to Mitt.

Louie, try to stay on topic and if you can't at least comment on something you have some knowledge about. Is it true that if you use totally rotten fish guts imported on the cheap from Pakistan as your chum base that it just won't work to attract fish no matter how much sawdust and sand you mix in to bulk it up?

What a retort chubby. So what is your actual knowledge on your op? Or fishing and politics in general?

Thankyou. I have won 2 blue marlin tourneys; I did predict the last election popular vote percentage spot on ( I did miss on the electoral college vote, predicted an Obama victory but I thought Romney would get a few more electoral votes.) I am an expert level Cunnilinguest.

    Any other questions?
