Air cannon bait launchers

Have you seen the youtubes on bait launchers? That is one way of getting your bait out past the sand bar without using a kayak. But are they ok to use on a public beach early in the morning? I think the type that use a propellant and spark may be pushing the limit a bit, but what about the simple tire pump, air only type launchers?

What I was told was this. First and foremost, it is up to the officer and how he/she perceives you using it. Any type of propellant that is ignited is a no-go. As far as the compressed air bait launchers, they are good so long as their intended purpose it launching bait. A compressed air launcher becomes illegal when the purpose for using it changes.

I placed many inquiries and calls into the FWC to speak with different officers and this is the consensus. Be smart about it and don't do it on a crowded beach.
