Trailer for 19' Redfisher

TapperTapper Posts: 10 Greenhorn
Hey folks,

I have a question related to a new trailer for my 1997 19' redfisher. The trailer that it is sitting on now is essentially a POS and I am in need of a new one, but on a beer budget.

I have a friend that would sell me the trailer he used for his 20' Angler for a great price, but is this too much trailer for my boat? The trailer is tandem axle with brakes and is a hell of a lot more trailer than I have underneath my boat now. I could definitely have the bunks modified to fit my boat, but I feel like it may look like a beast sitting under the boat.

On the other hand I don't know that it would be a bad thing to have more trailer than I technically need - I trailer the boat some pretty long distances to fish.

If you trailer a lot its not a bad thing. A lot less stress than an overloaded trailer.
Dealers routinely slap barely rated trailers under boats to keep cost down.
with the only 1' of difference in size its not like you underloading it.
As long as storage isn't effected, I say go for it.

I use a trailer made for a boat WAY bigger than my little AC 1720... I prefer it over the one that actually fits it.
Tarpon... everything else is just bait.
