Probably find what you want for lodging @ http://www.vrbo.com As for ramps, the free ones are the Dodge Lake ramp (no parking) just off Airport Blvd behind the airport, the 33rd St ramp behind the Marathon Yacht Club, and the ramp just North of Sanduski Causeway (entrance to Key Colony Beach) Now that the ramp on US1 North of Sanduski Causeway has been updated, It will accommodate your boat as long as you avoid the reef area between the ramp & Vacca Cut on the Bay side. Many of the houses on that site will have docks where you can dock your boat. I've rented a 3 bedroom 2 bath in Key Colony Beach for many years & found it to be very convenient.

The first of august rents will be very high due to lobster season. If you are coming to fish the last of august will be cheaper

I second Key Colony Beach..99% of the homes are on canals and fast passage to the Gulf or the Atlantic via Vaca cut. vrbo.com has homes from 800 a month what ever you want to spend plus August should get a decent deal if it's not Lobster week. Plus you get a pass to the Cabana Club which has a pool, small beach, snack bar and a place for adult beverages. Plus I heard they have a trolley to get you back and forth.

BUT when it says drive 25 they mean 25 MPH. Last I saw they had a marine boat in the basin along Sadauski ( entrance to KCB) clocking people with radar from the boat.:hairraiser I got a chuckle out of that one!

Your 40-50 minutes to Key West, 20 or minutes or so to Islamorada, the Dolphin research center is close by also. Key Colony Inn has great food also.

Like Pinfisher said, the first of August is more expensive. I'm usually there for the whole month, but the last of August and early September is more enjoyable and usually less expensive.

Depending on what you're looking for, AirBnB might not be a bad option: https://www.airbnb.com/s/Marathon--FL?checkin=08%2F01%2F2014&checkout=08%2F09%2F2014&guests=4&source=bb

You can also checkout HomeAway: http://www.homeaway.com/search/florida/marathon/region:7751/arrival:2014-08-01/departure:2014-08-09

Both are temporary lettings that can get you in a house with room to park the boat.

I have rented several times from Conch Realty at http://keyrentals.com They have several waterfront places in Key Colony Beach and their prices are fantastic. I will be coming down this summer for two weeks and staying at one of their places again. Can't wait to go! Gives me something to look forward to as I see my thermometer showing -21 F this morning up here in northern Wisconsin.

I'm using them ( Conch)this spring, and the prices are very reasonable. It's only going to get down to -2 F here tonight, so I can relate, Perchguy!

Hey, Joe, why not go a little further to Big Pine Key? A lot less traffic, your dollar stretches more, and a friendly locals don't mind helping you find fish. Try Old Wooden Bridge Marina, Big Pine Key Fishing Lodge, or Parmers Resort for a place to stay.
