Christmas night Snook and Red fishing

Wanted to get out on the water after being stuck home with the flu for a few days and one last time before the new outboard gets installed. Hit the water shortly after dinner and not a sole out there fishing. We hit up some of my past producing areas for big fish and marked them on the down imaging to find out the best possible place to set up with the ipilot. Taking that extra 10 mins to survey the area really pays off in hook ups. Within the first 10 mins my 2 friends caught 2 slot sized snook and from there it was consistent bite after bite after bite. 20 mins past and we were up to 5 snook, few getting off the hook boat side and we didnt even count those. We stuck around for a few hours fishing and drinking on and off, as the tide slowly eased up and by this time we were caught over 10 snook, few more getting off boat side, and broke a rod on one other snook. We were aproaching the tide change when my friend hooked into something that didnt fight like a snook, I was thinking small grouper by the way it was almost dead weight and minimal head shake. I get the flashlight and camera ready and sure enough of all fish it was a fat redfish. We all were beyond stoked and was an incredible catch of the night. We got it in the boat for measure and it came close to 32" without a pinched tail. It was the biggest redfish caught at night on a snook jig on my boat, in fact I havent seen one that big caught at night on a snook jig anywhere south of Sebastian Inlet. We all took celebratory drinks to that catch and headed back to the ramp with another fantastic Christmas in the books.
