Deep Drop Weights

Our last trip to the Bahamas racked up a large bill for deep drop weights due to sharks (and operator error). A friend recommended some window sash weights. Long story short, Adam and Eve Salvage in West Palm Beach is going out of business at the end of December. They had buckets of sash weights. They are cast iron, at least all the ones I found. There is an eye already cast into the end. Anyhow, they were asking $2.50 a piece and the ones I found weighed 8 lbs a piece. I am not associated with them, but I thought it was a good deal.

Been using cast iron sash weights since my dad first took me on the boat (over 50 years ago). We used them (half sized)for our jewfish hand lines but I use them now days for deep dropping whenever I can get them. I also use number 11 rebar which weighs 5 lbs per foot. I obtain that at Pilot Steel in Pompano. WPB is a little far for me to drive to just for sash weights as I live in Pompano but thanks for the heads up.
