Mister David Grix
Senior Inspector at Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services & a commercial fisherman:

Mister Grix:
We expected the DCA order, but we also expected a little more time. The DCA issued their repeal of the judge's orders without an oral argument. In Florida we will be going to court... Either the 1st DCA or the Supreme Court
Ms. Zalinsky, Mr. Grix The overwhelming will of the majority will win over the special interest groups!

Thank you for posting this. Mr. Grix's statements confirm suspicions about the timing of Judge Fulford's order and her delay in signing the order lifting the automatic stay. Chester Brewer
You are some sort of outdoor writer, right?
"**** harbison" Proper use of the English language required proper names to be capitalized.
If you liked that, Chester, you love this:
"Maybe it's time to get over your extinct career and spend your time more productively than trying to get revenge on CCA FL."
Grix's response: I am an American that is fighting the CCA from destroying our democracy. If you want evidence that the CCA are lobbying agaist American Citizens having constitutionally guaranteed due process, just ask. They have succeeded in Florida, and if you aren't careful, you'll see exactly what I am warning your posters about in the future. Droves of CCA members are becoming angry at the CCA. Check out the 95% recreational Florida Sportsman Magazine Website posts.
There are NOT any more fish in Florida than 10 years ago... Scientific fact... The CCA is now blaming the environment. By-the-way, we do have 3 million anglers in Florida, and I am not against any of them fishing.
To those who mock my knowledge of the CCA and claim that I'm just an angry net fisherman, you obviously don't know who I am and what I am about. Senators, Representatives and High Court Judges that are NOT backers of ANY commercial fisheries agree with me since the proof is overwhelming. If you take time to READ, WATCH and LISTEN, you will eventually see that everything I told you is true. WHY do you think the Chief Judge of the 1st DCA (In the video) asks the FWC/CCA backed attorney if they can do anything, no matter how irrational it is? ... And without any court oversight? It's because they can. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE CCA TAKES HOLD IN A STATE. Constitutional due process is eventually destroyed. The Chief Judge in his decision posted on my site warns of the danger to ALL citizens if this "IMPERIOUS" form of government is allowed to exist and expand.
...And yes, I consider myself an expert on the CCA and what they are REALLY up to since I've been dealing with them on a government level for over a decade. I don't just here their mouthpieces or read their literature... I witness the internal and external realities of the CCA.
As I expected, when I immediately told the truth that I was a commercial netter, (which should not matter to a person with an open mind), many of the CCA members would not read my posts... But hey, I am used to it and am always truthful no matter the outcome.
I'm mainly fighting for basic guaranteed constitutional rights that have been denied US citizens that fought in wars. Maybe you only care about yourself, what you can profit and what you like to do, but I care about those who risked life and limb for my freedom. Possibly the concept is beyond your grasp, but that it what I'm about. I am the son of a career Military man. (Deceased) Perhaps my father is where I got my fervor from about this country and those who fought for it.
Our last sighting of Mr. Grix and his angry entourage was as they were being escorted from the FRA rally by Tampa PD.

Then they stood across the street and gave interviews.
As a veteran I'm insulted by his comparisons.
He is as dumbfoundingly confused and confusing in person as he appears in that vengeful and nutty narrative. The language his even more charming friend there was using would have made even the most seasoned sailor blush. We could not ask for a better opposing spokesman in this non-issue.
Even Art would be more formidable.

I am not a member of the CCA. However, after studying what Captain Colecchio, and Mr.
Grix have to say, I am seriously considering joining. Before doing so, I need to know where the CCA stands on the American red snapper and gag grouper.
I am a long time member of the New Jersey based RFA. An example as to why:
The official RFA stance on 'gill net free waters'
"RFA feels the state of Florida must take emergency action before it's too late, to find a legislative, regulatory or judicial solution to this mess before we see 20 years of conservation wasted by a vindictive, media hungry judge," This judge is apparently on a tear to upend the constitution in the state of Florida and make a name for herself in the Florida Supreme Court,"
During the heyday of unregulated commercial fishing, Florida fishermen witnessed thousands of gill nets catching tons of both predator and prey fish with virtually zero management. Then came a 1990's campaign called Save Our Sea life led by Florida Sportsman's Karl Wickstrom which generated more than a half-million signatures to secure a constitutional amendment onto a 1994 Florida ballot, approved overwhelmingly by 72% of state voters who agreed to support that "No gill or entangling nets shall be used in any Florida waters." Now, after nearly 20 years of gill net free waters, Florida anglers are experiencing some of the finest saltwater fishing the state has ever offered.
The future of Florida's natural resource - and the will of the people - was completely undermined last week, as Leon County Circuit judge Jackie Fulford overturned the voter-approved, constitutionally protected net ban, while paving the way for wide-scale decimation of Florida fish stocks
"This decision by judge Fulford is completely reckless and opens the door for a Wild West derby scenario for gillnetters," said Jim Donofrio, executive director of the Recreational Fishing Alliance (RFA). "This judge has now just created an open-ended fishery that takes us back to those early days of unregulated commercial harvest."
But that was funny.:grin

Bob,
If you want to know CCA's stated positions on the two issues you mentioned go to joincca.org. There are many position papers there including pieces on catch shares, sector separation and allocations.

CCA's opposition to the net ban & catch shares are worthy goals that speak very highly of the CCA's commitment to the maintaining of a healthy fishery for decades to come. In addition, CCA's focus on BRD's for shrimp trawls is essential. The bycatch in the shrimping industry is a major threat to the juvenile American red snapper:
I, and by far the majority of Floridians, am strongly against the use of gill nets. I have witness first hand the deviating destruction they are capable of.
CCA Florida Opposes the Latest Attempt by Commercial Netters to Circumvent Gill Net Ban
"Judge Fulford has simply ignored almost 18 years of legal precedent on the issue and offered her own opinion" said Jim Williams, CCA Florida Chairman
The Constitutional Amendment and the implementing rules of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission have brought inshore finfish populations to high levels of abundance. "Populations of mullet, redfish, sea trout and other fisheries are at all-time highs and the increased abundance has allowed the FWC to reduce take restrictions on a number of species," said Forsgren.
"CCA Florida will continue to be the outspoken advocate and protector of the Constitutional Amendment which has protected Florida's marine fisheries and the multibillion dollar economic impact to Florida's economy," said CCA Florida Chairman Jim Williams.
NOAA is doing a fine job of destroying free access to a healthy fishery. Special interest groups such as the EDF, and Walton Foundation (Walmart), have infiltrated the very heart of NOAA. Greed rules! Lubchenco is gone, but the push to privatize a public resource, our fishery, continues. Bob
Several of the Gulf states are rejecting federal management of red snapper, and federal bills have been filed seeking to give greater control of fishery resources to the states. CCA supports these efforts to move management to the states and believes that the states are far better equipped to create healthy marine resources that can be enjoyed widely by their citizens. We will continue to work to achieve that goal, but in the meantime we must continue to defend against federal schemes that privatize public resources under the guise of management. (Shares/Separation) CCA
Share the Gulf will try to convince the public and the Council that catch shares have saved the red snapper fishery, but they only served to make a greatly rationalized commercial sector more profitable. Trying to cast catch shares as the hero in this story is nothing more than an attempt to Scam the Gulf.
To reach its red snapper goals, NMFS had to address the problem of bycatch in the shrimping industry. In the spring of 1998, the Gulf Council passed an amendment to require BRDs for shrimp trawls in federal waters. The Texas Shrimp Association sued in opposition to the bycatch reduction requirements and CCA intervened to ensure that shrimp fleet would have to do its part. “Trying to manage red snapper without addressing shrimp trawl bycatch is like trying to lower your electric bill by buying a more efficient toaster oven. CCA
Thanks to Mister Chester Brewer for bringing the link...joincca,org, to our attention. Thanks surfman for the valuable information. The exchange of information on the Florida Sportsman forum is critical to a better understanding of the many challenges facing our fishery both today & tomorrow. Bob
With all due respect Mr. Harbison, YOU are part of a special interest group AND it is not the majority.
With a well funded propaganda machine you got the majority of voters to vote your way.
Mark Twinam, a former commercial fisherman who runs T.W. Wholesale in Madeira Beach, was making deliveries recently when he saw a box of grouper marked "Pakistan" in the freezer of a local business. "I didn't even know Pakistan was on a sea," Twinam said.

Thank you Pottydoc. Truer words have never been said.
Sorry easy going but the recreational element, as pottydoc noted, is by far the majority, the overwhelming majority not only in numbers, but also in economic value to the economy. The 'special interest groups' are those who put profit above all; as an example, the Wakulla Fisherman's Association.
The recreational and commercial interest can, when managed properly, exist to the benefit of all concerned. However, the killing machines...gill nets & long lines...are tools of mass destruction rather than tools of management.
The overwhelming 'majority of voters' voted for what is better for both fish & fisherman.
In no way will the American people allow 20 years of conservation to be wasted by a media hungry judge, or by such 'special interest' groups as the Wakulla Fisherman's Association.
"Mark Twinam, a former commercial fisherman who runs T.W. Wholesale in Madeira Beach, was making deliveries recently when he saw a box of grouper marked "Pakistan" in the freezer of a local business. "I didn't even know Pakistan was on a sea," Twinam said. Thank you Captain Colecchio. We are a fish hungry nation. Why are we shipping fish to Pakistan, Japan, and to whomever will pay the most? The recreational fisherman, and hopefully most commercial fishermen, put America first!
Bob Harbison Part of the majority & proud of it!
The majority eat seafood provided by others. It's a fact. About 1 of 18 have a recreational fishing license in Florida last I checked.
And if you want to get down to the real facts only a small minority of licensed recs catch the majority of the fish. That's why there is no effort to get real numbers from the rec fisheries, it would more than likely be an embarrassment
:rotflmao Gary, If you run out of arguments go to the personal attack.
You are right about it being funny. I laugh every time I see you post this "farmers of the sea, feeding American families" nonsense.
If you don't want to be laughed at, you may want to consider how you present yourself to the press. After all, all I did was quote you and literally draw you a map. But don't thank me.
As for the majority, the majority who eat fish don't eat fish caught in a gill net , never have, nor told you loudly that they never will.
Why? Because they don't eat trout or mullet.
And they are smart too. Ask anyone f they would buy any fish that was caught with a net or any device that was not in direct control (held) by a fisherman so that it would catch fish that were killed and thrown away.
Ask a kid who never ate a fish the same question.
You want to sell a fish, don't let go of the net. Don't "soak" it in hopes that something you can sell wanders haplessly into it. Just like any other "provider " of wild game doesn't do.
Don't believe we are in the majority? Why not start a poll, or better take a vote.
Oh wait, someone already did.

The majority voted to ban gill nets in Florida waters. It's a fact. I'll bet none of them has done without fish since then. And, no matter what lame claims you make, they knew what they were voting for. The amount of fish caught by any particular rec fishermen has nothing to do with the issue. The truth is there are way more recs than commercials (why don't you post how many commercial licenses there are per person? I'll bet it's waaay less than 1-18) and that the rec industry brings millions more dollars a year into the economy of Florida than the commercial sector does. Those are also facts. And, spreads it out to a much larger group of people. Another fact. Thanks for playing, try again.
Links to facts?
I can't even imagine the amount of net caught Spanish mackerel that was consumed at the Morrisions cafeteria chain throughout this country, it's more than I can count on my fingers and toes.
Lots of folks used to eat trout and mullet, many still do, though I doubt you encounter many in your social or ethnic circles.
Gary, long before you migrated here many of the local restaurants featured local caught (reds, trout, sheephead, etc) when available.
Green Tavern in Crystal River comes to mind.
Y'all have fun with this, just keep in mind majority rule is what crucified Christ, good company for youse guys to keep... lol
Those links have been posted on here many times. It wouldn't make any difference anyway, neither you, Easy, or any other commercial ever lets facts get in your way. Plus, I'm pretty sure Alaskan salmon, cod, and monk fish aren't caught in gill nets. I'm having a little trouble figuring out why you think a majority rule crucified Christ since the Romans were in charge, and they weren't the majority. I can give you references if you want to read that story yourself. And for what it's worth, I'm a 5th generation Cracker (at least), so your "since you migrated here" comment is kinda meaningless. I doubt seriously your family has been here any longer.
Things change, Art. So do people's sensibilities. They realize that "wild" anything cannot be plucked from trees, and the trees be chopped down or that nature is a boundless cornucopia of bounty to be taken with out managing it to sustainability.
And that is why you and this tiresome effort to recreate a past that never existed fail to accept or convince others of.
A heritage of wastefulness does not rationalize a future wasteland.
As for Christ and the mob, I'm afraid that is largely as fictional as your defense.
History tells us that the Romans were not known to engage those they occupied in their judicial processing of insurgents. It makes for good storytelling though.
In the future please refrain from quoting the bible in your defense, we get that far too often from the self- righteous recalcitrants who by their actions know little of it and practice it's precepts even less.

Farmers plan, plant, cultivate, and manage their resources. They know that if they abuse the land it'll stop producing for them and their crops will suffer.
Farmers don't gather in mobs from multiple states to plunder the local resources of areas far from their home...
Seriously...if you want to "farm" all the creeks and bayous in Upper Tampa Bay then how about I come over and plant rows of corn, peas, and tomatoes in all the green spaces in your neighborhood. Then I'll turn around and sell the veggies back to you for a profit...
