White House to announce $300M in aid Friday to make Detroit safer, erase blight
WASHINGTON — Nearly $300 million in aid for Detroit — from federal and state coffers, private businesses and charitable foundations — will be announced Friday as Obama administration officials visit the city to discuss what can be done to help eradicate blight, improve transportation, encourage new business and make residents safer.

I bet a lot of that money could be saved with a $2 zippo.

Wow, big spender. Obama gave his brotherhood of islamist terrorists in Egypt $250 billion.
Maybe that aid package includes incentives for Somalis and Chechens to immigrate to Detroit?

Obama did? That money wasn't authorized in a budget or CR passed by the house? Odd...

Understanding that republicans will never give him credit for doing anything good, President Obama said the other day "Once the Affordable Care Act is working well, I guarantee you they will not call it Obamacare."

The rich, poor and old already had insurance. The productive middle class is going to get pounded by Obamacare. $200 per month for a 60/40 plan with a $3000 deductible and a $5000 out of pocket max(post deductible) is a big nut to crack especially for a family....This was nothing more than the Democrats version of crony capitalism.

Baloney. The working poor absolutely did not have the same access to healthcare as the middle class or the rich. The working poor typically work jobs that do not offer benefits. They make too much money for medicaid but not enough to pay for insurance. These are the people Obamacare is designed to protect.

The middleclass on the other hand is by and large covered by benefits offered through their employer. If your employer decided to drop insurance and push you to the exchanges then they made a simple math equation about your value to the company and compensation package. This has little to do with Obamacare and much more to do with lack of corporate social responsibility.

Their constituents wanted single payer, what they got was their corporate overlords receiving more tax-funded (unfunded) welfare.
Obamacare is the biggest slap to the face of liberals/progressives in a long time.

False. We wanted single payer, then we wanted the public option. We got the ACA. Are we excited with it? No. But liberals understand that that's how compromise works and we are willing to put in the work and time to improve the system.

Contrast this to the conservatives that are attempting to shutdown the government in a **** temper tantrum.

We are self-insured so I know exactly what it costs to insure more than 5000 middle class people with quality insurance. It would be much cheaper for us to move to a Obamacare style plan. America is screwed, watch what happen when the people demand government workers migrate to the Obamacare plans. The working poor; IE young folks are getting ready to drop to 30 hours.

In any case, the aid to Detroit will end up in the pockets of Obama and Holster's corrupt political friends who are the cause of the blight in the first place.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean. If you are saying that as a company it would be cheaper for you to drop your employees and have them move to the exchanges then you are correct. It would have been a lot cheaper a year ago when there was no mandate to provide insurance. The ACA simple provided a penalty and a market place to get insurance.

As far as government workers being forced on to the exchange, not sure why you think there would be a drive for that but again, never going to happen.

What is the productive middle class paying now?

Thats not the question to ask. The question is:

What is the productive middle class going to pay to cover the UNPRODUCTIVE class once this law is implemented?

Republicans control one half of one third of the process. That means it will be a democrat who shuts down the government if it happens. :rotflmao

How will we really know how hard the productive middle class is getting hammered if we have no point of reference?

    So I'll ask again....

What is the productive middle class paying now?

You should feel like a fool... you were fooled by the very people you empowered to represent you. Obama NEVER campaigned on single payer nor public option...and the Dems had one shot to get it right the first time. They controlled 100% of government when ObamaCare was passed.

I say let it all collapse. Full speed ahead. If you think you own the resources that will deliver your beloved single payer...you are really a fool. Government can't deliver a single bandaid...government produces nothing. Just like you guys ran away manufacturing with your laws, you too will run away health care with your laws. This will be the end of the public's patience with your social experimenting.

The republicans control the house of representatives

All legislation has to pass both houses of congress and the president

Basically the house republicans stop everything the majority wants to do.

They have been doing it since they got control of the house

The debt ceiling the budget and ACA are no different

Yup. The pessimistic Tea People act like Russia in the UN. The Party of No has exercised their Veto Power to try to "stop everything the majority wants to do". Ted Cruz prides himself on being the fly in the regressive ointment. Conservatives seem to be cooking their own goose by their persistent negativity. Their core is a fatalistic End Timer cult that didn't even like their own candidate Mitt the Twit.

I say Let the RNC/GOP all Collapse. Or is it imploding, rotting, eating its own heart out, burning out, self destructing, crushing under its own weight, left behind, committing suicide, falling on its sword, eating its own?

Just look back at the Rogue's Gallery of presidential contenders & never forget, Mitt the Twit was their Pick of the Litter.

Not to mention the Senate passed a CR to fund the Gov't. Both Houses agreed to fund the Gov't. 2/3 of Government control (POTUS and Senate) are on record for not shutting down the Gov't.

Yet people think the Dems are going to take the fall? good luck with that.
