Boynton Reef - 8/30

Went out this morning on our little whaler - the Sara-Jo with Capt. Joseph at the helm...

The plan was to try to find snook on the beach. We cleared the inlet a bit later than planned - around 8:30 am. We found a lot of bait just outside the inlet and filled up the livewell with 2 net casts on the south side...

Then Joseph decided that we should go reef fishing since HE didn't see any fish busting on the bait. I think his plan had always been to reef fish. So he takes us out to about 60' of water...

And bam...

The bonitos were thick all the way in to 40'. They were super fun on light spinners. We did manage a couple of keeper lanes and a couple of decent yellowtails. But most importantly Joseph got to practice his gaffing on live fish. He impaled half a dozen bonitos and a stud remora :rotflmao

Fun day with Capt. Joseph. He called the shots today. Anyway - again there's a lot bait around the inlet and the boneheads were thick. Offshore bite for dolphin was hit or miss from what I heard. Good luck if you're heading out this weekend. :fishing
