PC 8/29 Slow half day at 8a

Left Bluepoints dock about 7:30 with Bill " Big Mack " Vittie. We found the Pogy pods south of the Cocoa pier - near half way to the Steeple. Upon arrivial at the 8a reef - we found we were nearly the only boat out there ! The water was a bit on the dirty side, surface temp was 83/84o , some scattered weeds and some softball size brownish jellyfish too. It was looking like a skunk day till large pods of Bonita moved into the area.We started trolling around the Bonita pods which were scattered widely throughout the area. We went through a couple usual sharks before getting a nice Kingfish about 4 ft. long. A pleasant surprise came just before we quit at noon. I was reeling in the Kingfish Pogy rig after what seems to be a swing and a miss bite - when we saw a Cobia following the rig back to the boat ! I gave the rig a little jigging action and he inhaled the whole set up , Pogy and blue and white teaser !
