With all the hoo's being caught up north in the last few weeks (Boca-Port St. Lucie), I figured we'd give it go down here last Saturday. Had the spread in the water by sun-up. Trolling a good 13-16 kts we worked it from Government Cut down to about nearly Triumph weaving between 125-350ft. Only hit we had came North of Fowey when we slowed down to 10 kts. and a cuda jumped on. Gave up around 9am and went offshore. Managed to find a hand full of schoolie dolphin on some scattered weed at around 700ft. Came in and made a couple of drifts for kings and only came up bonita and remoras.
August is my least favorite month to fish here. Looking forward to Fall.

SnookyJ - Hey my man, long time, right? I'm fishing a lot more now that my kids are getting able to handle long days on the water. Sat. is a maybe for me. Was supposed to fly to Nassau and stay for two nights before flying the boss up to New Jersey Monday, but the Nassau portion just canceled, so Sat. is looking better! You headed out?

very true regarding the heat. however, july and august have been windy (until recently) and therefore it was not too hot. also, you can drift over the reef to bottom fish and this might help the baking in the sun.
Yea man thats me...it has been awhile!!! You still running the contender??? I'm gonna try and fish tomm eve and maybe sunday morning, like you i have young un's and they take up all my time these days. I have 3 girls...so unless princesses are involved its tough to get them on the water! LOL
I agree with everybody on august being a tough month for surface fishing....but like Rafael said, the bottom bite can be sick with a lil know how!!!
I'll be looking for your report!
