Refinishing Mooring Whips?

I've got a pair of mooring whips that, after about 12 years in the sun, have a case of the fiberglass frizzies. Anyone ever refinish these before? What kind of resin/coating did you use, and how did you go about doing so? I've done a bit of fiberglass work, so not scared of working with resin, and I don't want a **** spray paint or tape kind of fix. Just want to be sure to use the right stuff, considering how much these are supposed to bend. I stopped by Fiberglass Coatings in Dania today, and they said no one has ever asked before.

I would think some of the rod building epoxy coatings would be ideal, as fishing rods bend also. I would also check out plasti-dip
