Use Your Chart to Catch More Fish, and WIN!

There’s no reason to stay inside during the dog days of summer. If you’re not having success fishing your usual spots, take the time this summer to find a few new honey holes.

To help you in this process the staff at Florida Sportsman will point out 30 hot spots from their existing charts, and in the spirit of having some fun, we’re not going to initially tell you exactly where the hot spot is. We’re going to leave that up to you, the first person that correctly tells us where the hot spot is, and what Florida Sportsman chart it’s on, will win that Florida Sportsman chart. Click here to view ALL the FS Charts!

Florida Sportsman will post a photo of a spot on Facebook and the General Fishing section of the Florida Sportsman Forum every day, for 30 days beginning July 25 thru Aug 25. The first person to respond on the Facebook post and/or Forum thread, with the correct location and specific Florida Sportsman chart will be the winner. The location can be approximate, but the FS Chart has to be specific. You’re only eligible to win one chart via FaceBook and one via the Forum. (See bottom of page for list of FS Charts to choose from).

Most anglers would admit that knowing where the fish are biting is important, but it’s not everything, because as we all know, fish have tails — they move. Equally important to knowing where a likely fish spot is, is knowing what made the spot a likely spot to begin with. Is there a deep hole or channel there, a funneling effect, hard bottom, a drop off, any or all of these changes in the typography of our shorelines, backbays and flats lead to healthy fish populations.

In the August issue of Florida Sportsman, editor Jeff Weakley goes into detail on how you can use your Fishing Chart to find your own inshore hot spots.
