Another Canon camera announced.

Apparently Canon is field testing the 75Mpix monster I posted in the other thread.

The camera at the link is more realistic for the immediate future. Camera is due in August, or so.

44Mpix and cinema oriented, but it is a still photography camera.

This camera hops over the Nikon D800 at 36Mpix, but in a different style body.

No reports on cost.

I guess there in no end in sight for the pixel race. Which is sad, because I would easily give up more pixels for less noise at high ISO and less chromatic aberration. I mean the top cameras are already higher rez than HD and in some cases 4K cinema.

One other issue that is creeping up is no ones lenses are good enough for these high pixel density cameras. For example Nikon has published a list of just a few of their lenses that are good enough to fully resolve the D800.

For my money, stop the pixel race! I don't want to have to buy all new lenses.

Looks like canon has become the big kahuna in the dslr business again...
i was afraid that they had given up on tech advances and competing with nikon...

like you, Craig, I believe the mp race is out striping the ability of the glass to resolve the the high mp count...

Soon DSLR lenses will cost what MF lenses cost. Who is prepared to pay $3,500 for a normal lens?

The number will be a little lower due to lens diameter and production numbers but that is what a Hasselblad normal lens costs. You get my point.
