Well done Jettrat. Now that’s an outstanding bug! Whenever I get my first 10+ lber I’m gonna get it mounted.

Something like this 12 lber would be too cool to have in the house/fishing den:

Good for you! i am a very new diver. my only experience has been in the Keys. Would you care to share some tips? Like is there any way to check the visibality before you go? Is everything at 100ft.? And are all lobster that big? Or do you net and stick them just like in the keys or do you have just saddle them and ride them to the top??!!!!! :) I appreciate any tips.

    * There is no way to check the vis. it could change overnight.
    * We got ours around 90' im guessing that they are from 50-140' the bigger ones are deeper.
    * The one in the pic was the biggest one that my buddy chad caught. He didnt have a net or anything. He used his pole spear as a tickle stick and pretty much jump ed on his back and bear hugged him to the top. I caught one about 9 lbs and used a snare. Other than that just find someone with a boat chip in for gas, look for some ledges, and give it a shot.

The ones that big have mouths big enough for your finger to fit in. If your finger gets in there they will bite the end of it off. No bs.

I’ve been stupid enough to be bitten by a lobster. I had my hand carelessly over its carapace with my fingers under its head. The small but legal bug chomped on my finger tip and all I could think of was how the heck I was going to kill this thing to get it to let go of my finger. Thankfully the bite got weaker and weaker and I was able to pull it out of its mouth. That hurt like the dickins!

I’m not sure what the bite force of a lobster is but they crush bivalves and crabs so it’s gotta be pretty significant. In years past I remember a forum post & photos about a guy who lost a finger tip.
