Sorry for the SUPER late report!
We headed out on June 15 (Day before fathers day). My brother and I took my dad out and we trolled out to around 10 miles or so. Got NOTHING for hours! Then finally we got a hit which was a little schoolie. Ended up letting it go. At this point we were south of the inlet (Port Everglades) and we started trolling north. Trolled north a few miles and my dad spotted a Floating coil of rope. Probably around 4ft x 4ft. It was loaded with bait and small mahi. Trolled around it a couple times and got hits from small mahi. They were only hitting the tail of the ballyhoo and i was constantly rigging more every hit. lol Finally decided to bring lines in and throw some ballyhoo chunks to get them fired up. Mahi showed up and all the bait that was under the coil of rope stayed under our boat for a while. lol When they were all fired up we started catching them on ballyhoo chunks, but after catching about half a dzn on ballyhoo, they quit hitting ballyhoo. I had found REALLY old frozen shrimp in my freezer and i decided to bring it to take it out of my freezer. I started chumming with shrimp and they were going CRAZY for it. Caught most of them on Shrimp. After we had the school of mahi under control, i brought out my 8 Weight Fly Rod and slayed! I caught around 5 on fly and we all caught over 20. The school had around 30 mahi. We only kept 5 which were over 22inches. Most of the mahi were illegal to keep. Here is the Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1q1KmckowTw&feature=youtu.beHere is the Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1q1KmckowTw&feature=youtu.be
