It's time again for the Team Sargent tournament benefiting officers with Lou Gherigs disease.
This year the Fraternal order of Police sponsored the entry for the boat, we'd like to thank them for that.

Grabbed 3.5 dozen bait and cleared the inlet just about 6 for lines in. Fist stop was 80ft off the Dodge Wall on some nice upwellings and sick. Unlike Friday, the current was ripping to the north this morning. Get 1 bait down deep and two flatlines out when the downrigger goes off like a freight train. Grabbed the rod and line was burning off the reel, 1/2 spool by the time 2 lines were cleared but just like that it was gone. Bring in the line expecting broken line or leader but it turns out nether. The 4x treble book broke at the barb. We reset the baits and worked to the inlet without a bite then reset and worked it again. We worked the same area for 2 more hours without a bite and decided to move north. This time we set up off the Juno Pier. First bait out was the downrigger and it gets nailed, but "mr. grey suit"
made a meal of the fish before we could see it. We made a couple trips between the inlet and pier without bites and time was ticking, had to be visible at the scales in palm beach by 1.
At 10:30 we get a double header, one deep and one on top. The two members on board cleared lines and then got on the fish. The downrigger turned out to be a small Amberjack but the surface bite was taking line and heading east toward the ledge. As we followed it and crossed the ledge we got nervous knowing sharks were around. Look ahead and we're headed straight for another boat. We crossed ten feet behind the other boat just as they we're clearing lines. Unfortunately one line was just late and it looped around our mainline.

note: I don't remember the name but if the members on this boat are on the forum I'd like to thank them. As I untangled the line and followed the fish, they free spooled the rod and motored with us until I could get the tangle off; very courteous.

We followed the fish for 10 more minutes and were now in 225ft of water and just heavy weight so we opted to break it off believing to to have been sharked again.
Ran back south with enough time for one and barely, maybe, 2 more trips.

At 11:10 we get a decent hit on the surface. This fish immediately sounded and stayed deep making us believe bonito. As it was lifted to the surface our first glimpse was a sigh of relief, a decent king was coming up. The fish was landed at 11:30 and we knew we had to high tail it back to the scales since we were north of the Jupiter Inlet. A little over an hour later we pulled in and weighed the fish.

23.0lbs and good enough for 1st place King.
