9 wt to an 8 wt

Bob1shBob1sh Posts: 43 Deckhand
Just recently downgraded from a 9 wt Orvis Clearwater to an 8 wt Clearwater. I love the rod and how much less it weighs. I wade fish mostly and it has already cut down on the fatigue wading throughout both of the day's tide cycles. Also went from a mid flex to tip flex and can't believe I didn't make that decision sooner.. My question is, if I remember correctly, weren't there benefits to fishing 9 wt line from an 8 wt rod? I could've sworn I read a post on it some time ago but I can't seem to find it.
