  Over lining a rod will slow the rods action down. This will allow you to load the rod faster. Great for short shots but not as good at long ones. Give it a try and see what works for you.

  I had an 8wt. Clearwater with 9wt. Monic FST Redfish line. You can load the rod faster which will require less false casts. Either way it's a great setup.
