Pete, I hate to miss it but I'm still sidelined by this heart surgery issue.. had a visit today with the doctor today, follow up from pacemaker upgrade surgery was last Monday, he said its 5 weeks before I can get cleared for upper body workouts and that's is nothing else goes wrong.
Laying out the cash to reserve a spot in the tourney (maybe locking out someoen else) and a room in the area just is not feasible at this time.
I'm planning on partaking in the tournament, putting in my request off for that day tonight, planning on sending in registration tomorrow. Sounds like a fun tourney and will be my first fishing tourney in a kayak. I'm pretty excited :banana
Micha and I just got our confirmation. We are in.
I understand the field fills up quickly, so if you guys are planning on entering, I suggest getting it done. Last year or the year before it filled up in like 4 days. It was 75 anglers max then. It's 120 this year.
The DOA is a great tourney, competative yes, but very family orientated. They usually award kayaks for first thru third plus a junior angler boat. Mark Nichols is a great guy who is a strong supporter of kayak angling.....I think he pedals a Hobie too, and he's as entertaining as hell.
Like mentioned before, 120 spots will fill-up fast.
I was looking forward to being a part of this for my 5th year, but that will be the tail end of our spring break vacation in Islamorada.
Just got my confirmation email today :dance Now I guess it's time to get out there and do some fishing. I'm off Friday and Saturday if anyone would like to do some fishing in The Jensen / Stuart area. Let me know
I'm coming over from Tampa to fish this. It will be my first one so I'll be flying blind. If anyone could help with some good launch spots, I would appreciate it. Not asking for honey holes, just a good safe place to launch from.

Get to know your DOA lures as you have to use what is issued at the Captains meeting on Friday night.
Couple places-
Sailfish Flats- launch at Chastain Beach on the island. http://www.martin.fl.us/portal/page?_pageid=354,3437495&_dad=portal&_schema=portal&park_id=721
Park on west side of road, follow trail back to sand beach- work the grass (if you can find some) for Trout on topwater and shad tails, then work the islands to the west for Snook (shad tails, DOA Cals & TerrorEyz.
Reds on the west side of the river around the docks...Snook too.
Good luck to everyone fishing the tourney tomorrow, should be a decent day of weather. Looking forward to getting back out on the water and meeting some good people. Ill be rocking my ohio state hat as always. Tight Lines to all! :Rockon
