same thing with exercising your right to free speech. Cant have people running around with free speech trying to fight people when intoxicated...runs a risk of injury

Actually he has a small point.

Right to own a gun is guaranteed in the COTUS, yet most states hae laws requiring a back ground check...all well and good.
Voting however is not a right guaranteed in the COTUS, yet people demand it as if a right, even some who may not be citizens and other folks are signng up people left and right who are absically unknown to them....

if proving you are a citizen able to vote is too much of a burden then is it not the same for a minority that would like to buy a gun which is in the bill of rights?

Technically, proving you are a citizen is already required before you can vote. How well the local canvassing board is at doing their job may be open to question. But they are supposed to verify the citizenship of all new registrants. It is a crime to claim you are, if you aren't. We should start enforcing that with stiff penalties.

All that does is check criminal records and see if the applicant is on the NICS list, not citizenship.

Why bother? You don't even have to prove that you are a citizen to become President!!!!

In Florida, you can get a CWP as a "legal resident", i.e. you don't have to be a US citizen to buy or carry in FL.

You must be at least 21 years of age unless you are a service member, as defined in Section 250.01, Florida Statutes, or you are a veteran of the United States Armed Forces who was discharged under honorable conditions.

Unless you are serving overseas in the United States Armed Forces, you must CURRENTLY RESIDE in the UNITED STATES (US) AND be a US CITIZEN OR DEEMED A LAWFUL PERMANENT RESIDENT ALIEN by Department of Homeland Security, US Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS). If you are serving overseas in the US Armed Forces, submit a copy of your deployment documentation with your application. If you are not a US citizen, submit documentation issued by the USCIS proving you are a permanent legal resident alien with proof you have resided in the state of residence (as shown on your application) for at least 90 consecutive days prior to the date the application is submitted.
