"Ocean Champions" - No freind of Fish or Fishermen

In what is meerely a Political Wing of the extreme elements of enviromental activist, this groups claims to be the only
non-profit enviromental group directly involved in campaigning for and against poiticians related to the enviromental cause.
They are no freind of the fisheries however, as they like other extreme green groups OPPOSE making Science a MANDATE in
US Fishery Regulations, and like the "Status-Quo", where Outdated, Inaccurate, Unreliable and Incomplete data can be used
to determine fishery management issues if it is the "Best Avaliable".

Its no surprise it supports Catch Shares, and makes its political reccomendations based on those willing to sell out to big
corporate interest and push the Market Based Management Scheme. Not only this, but they also are attacking any that
oppose the NOAA Big Green colaborators, and any that spill the beans on the scam known as Catch Shares. This is the
group running the anti-Southerland campaign, and yes, a look at its board members shows who its connected to. David
Festa is a prominant member of this group, so the EDF agenda is front and center. They too bragg about their role in the
2006 MSRA getting passed on their website.

I recently had a dialogue on their FB page and also sent then an eMail. Needless to say, their disposition was much like
the seperatist and their MO of first trying to sell you on their scheme without the benefit of Facts, then when they fail and
you confront them with facts showing their lack thereof, they resort to tirades and insults. Very professional huh? They are
what they are, extreme activist, and when the Truth and Facts get in the way of their agenda, they resort to all they have
left which is to create emotional outburts in an attempt to muddy the issue.

Here is a link to their FB page and Website: They removed the one thread on their Southerland smear campaign, but another
is listed lower on the page. They also removed all my post and blocked me from posting any facts, but feel free to have some
fun with them!

  • Some interesting comments from their website the claim about themselves, thus showing their true colors.....

"Ocean Champions is the only ocean group that helps elect the Members of Congress who fight for our oceans."....."We help elect members of congress who will fight to protect our oceans, and, we defeat candidates and members who don't. That, in essence, is what Ocean Champions is all about"....."In 2006, Ocean Champions played a significant role in reauthorizing the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act (M-S Act). The M-S Act is the primary federal statute governing management of our Nation's fisheries."....."This week, Ocean Champions is excited to begin Phase II of the “Sink Southerland” campaign to defeat Congressman Steve Southerland, Ocean Enemy #1. During Phase I, we asked you to vote for Ocean Enemy #1 and Rep. Southerland was your overwhelming choice. No surprise there; he is a true ocean bully."......
