Has anyone here actually had the pleasure of comparing and contrasting these two fine vessels?
I've been on Yellowfin's. Never been on a SeaVee. I've seen them up close, out of the water....I got a stiff one when I saw the electrical work.
I haven't been on a 39 YF but, I've spent time on a 39 SeaVee and run a 34 SeaVee, I've spent a bunch of time on a 42 YF and also spent time on a 42 Invincible....I don't think you can compare a 39 against a 42 but, the 39 SeaVee is a great boat....however, that 42 Invincible blew me away...hard to beat it. I was totally unimpressed with the 42 YF.
I'm also fortunate enough to have run several Viking models (46, 56, 61, 65, 74, 82).....72 is old school, check out the new models, really impressive stuff.

What made the Invincible stand out amongst the others? I have never been on one or seen one up close. Also, you are my hero. You have a helluva nice list of boats you have run. You a private captain by any chance?
The Hann looks like 36'er with a shoebox added to make it '50. And not the best detailed built either.
I did not read the story but if you take tax payers money maybe you should be held to some standards.-Cyclist

The Invincible was huge-- but, still very fishable. Went for a spin on a buddy's and noticed the boat had almost zero bow rise when planing, it just started going faster (the 42 YF I ran would lose visibility ahead), the boat would haul **** with 3/4 engines, and run very well with 2/4 engines, ran multiple directions in a steep/crappy 3-4' and at 40+ knots we stayed dry, the boat had a very soft ride and tracked great. The thing that blew me away is that getting back to the dock is when we counted people and realized there were 9 of us on the boat, felt empty. The mpg was impressive, that boat went to Mexico with no extra fuel, even at over 50 knots the fuel burn wasn't a nightmare. I went through all the spaces on the boat and things were dry and well finished.
I owned a Contender and now get to drive a pimp SeaVee....and have a bunch of miles on various CC's....and that Invincible really grabbed my attention.
Yep, private captain. So, through work or for fun, I've done a ton of "sea trials" all over the place.
Dragged it and the family down to the Keys for a week after Christmas. Caught a lot of mangrove snapper, spanish mackeral, and critters for the aquarium. Spent most of the time bayside as it was a little bumpy ocean side and our crew wasn't real hardy.

Speaking of Yellowfin, I met this guy a month ago, and he gave me a tour of his boat (in the photo). Nice guy, and wealthy as hell.

Is the owner still in the clink for that lobster thing?
