PC Lock CLOSED M-F; holidays too!

Was bummed when I had this past Monday off and couldn't get through the lock to fish the river. Word I had heard was things would be finished by March but this notice says June:

1. Canaveral Lock Closure – The Canaveral Lock will be partially closed for upcoming repairs to the South Chamber Guide Wall. The existing West End of the South Guide Wall has suffered a structural failure and the remaining portion is in very poor condition due to age. A contract has been awarded to replace the Chamber Guide Wall. As part of the agreed upon restrictions during commencement of the work, the lock will be opened for vessel traffic no more than 2 times each day during weekdays, and normal operating conditions on the weekends. Effective Monday December 10, 2012 and continuing for approximately 6 months, Canaveral Lock Vessel passages will be conducted according to the below schedules. If any information changes after the date of this notice, a new Notice to Navigation will be issued promptly with the new information.

a. (Canaveral Lock): Canaveral Lock is scheduled to begin operating under new restrictions beginning Monday December 10, 2012 through June 2013. The weekday locking hours for vessel passage will be 6:00 am -7:00 am, one lockage each direction, and 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm. Monday- Friday. There will be no lock restrictions on the weekends. However, any vessel that requires greater than 45 feet horizontal clearance will need to be scheduled for passage 7 days in advance with the Lock Master to allow for construction vessel movements, regardless of the weekday or weekend.

Thanks for the heads up. I had a few minutes to kill before heading out this morning and saw your post. It saved some headache and possibly the day for us. Put the boat on the trailer and made it out probably quicker than we could have motored anyway.

    Thanks again,

Good deal! It's a real bummer for us Port Canaveral Boat Club folks....all the convenience of their inshore boats is out the window M-F and it squeezes all the club members to reserving for the weekends.
