Panama Fishing Report - Bull Dorados! - January 4-6, 2013

Paul Tatum had so much fun with us the week prior here at Propiedad de Paradise Lodge that he returned for a second round. This time he came with his son Greg and two more avid Louisiana sportsmen.....Todd Burnett and Don Barfield for some more offshore hunting based out of Isla Paridas here in the Gulf of Chiriqui, Panama. They came looking to get another shot at a Marlin but we came up short. Plenty of bait but warm green water offshore for three days wasn't good for the billfish bite at Hannibal Bank or Isla Montuosa. We did get into some big Dorados in our search and managed to stock up on fresh fillets. No problem catching bait this week as it has been tough the weeks past. Don Barfield took some excellent aerial shots of a big Bull Dolphin we caught while trolling plastics at Isla Montuosa one day. Even though the fishing was slow these guys were in good spirits!

Enjoy the pics........

The Bill fish were a little off, but the dorado gave us some good action, and great meals. This was one of those trips where catching was behind the "just being there" it was a great time for all of us, one of the best "trips" yet. A return trip is on the top of our destination list, The lodge, food, service, and the location make this a outstanding fishing destination. We took a extra full day in Panama City to see the city and canal, if making the trip down I would highly recommend it.

Thanks for the kind words Don! Yeah, unfortunately we didn't get our shot at that Marlin when you guys were here. Paul was the lucky one the week before. It was a pleasure to have you guys here and I look forward to fishing with you again. Believe it or not.....we've got a couple of Blue Marlin just this past week with the group that came after you. Full report coming soon!

Please say Hi to Todd, Greg, and Paul for me.
