The majority of the youths in the socio-economic environment that wear hoodies wear them to isolate themselves from the sh#t environment that they are raised in (Yes, they do know the difference, but cannot do a **** thing about it except roll with it). It gives them a sense of comfort and security...kinda like Linus and his blanket. It gets to a point that they do not even know that they put the hood up. The only problem is that it develops into a concealment mentality as they age...again due to the environment that they are raised in. Believe me...I do not condone it but, since I deal with it on a daily basis, due to my career choice, I am beginning to at least understand it. What those kids go through on a daily basis would make your head spin. I personally love hoodies, but seldom put the hood up. They just don't make sweatshirts that fit like a hoodie...Why? Just sayin'....

    You gotta be kidding!

    You sound really stupid.

I dunno Phish, I thinks its different, not same ole. Even when it was the slickers vs the preppers, there was still some respect. Respect of each other, respect of your kind. Now there is a bunch with no values at all. That and they are now coddled. Kids in school aren't being taught because teachers fear retribution. Kids are being passed onto higher grades, yet lack the skills they should have learned years below them. Once beyond a certain point, there is virtually no hope for them.

I don't have the answers. I don't know how to turn back the clock. maybe take the EBT cards away. Maybe set a standard for voting rights. Maybe bring corporal punishment back to school. maybe make parents accountable for the children they bring into this world. Again, I have no clue how to set us forth in a better track.

But, I'll say this again, you want to act like a punk, expect to get treated like one..

The difference is negligible. Our collective culture of violence and thuggery goes back ...many... generations. The younger generation only respecting the thugs of old, Street level soldiers wanna be Cappo's wanna be Don's, Street Thugs want the respect of OG's. Even back in the day for a little gangster wanna be, school was for suckers, you can make more in the streets running numbers for the Queen or for Lucky.

Big money quick hustling, that theme hasn't changed. We just move our kids to the suburbs and pretend it's an anomaly particular to that generation or those people... Well, the suburbs can only get so big., we can only move so far.

U.S. on Pace for Slowest Decade of Population Growth Since 1930s
    By Frank Bass - Dec 31, 2012

The U.S. population is on track for its slowest decade of growth since the Great Depression.

The Census Bureau estimates there will be 315.1 million people living in the country on New Year’s Day, a 0.73 percent rise from last year’s estimate and 2.05 percent more than the most recent census count in April 2010. At the current pace, the nation’s population will grow by 7.3 percent during the decade, the lowest level since the 7.25 percent increase recorded between 1930 and 1940, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.

The slow rate of growth during the first part of the decade indicates the U.S. continues to emerge slowly from the worst economic downturn since the 1930s. The nation’s birth rate and immigration fell in the aftermath of the 2007-09 recession. Between 2000 and 2010, the Census Bureau reported the nation’s population grew by 9.7 percent.

William Frey, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution’s Metropolitan Policy Program, said one bright spot is that mountain states in the West were among the fastest- growing places in the nation.

“There are some signs of growth in Nevada and Arizona, states that were hit particularly hard by the recession,” he said.
    Dakota Leads

North Dakota, propelled by an energy boom, registered a 2.2 percent population increase between 2011 and 2012, according to census figures released earlier this month. It was trailed by the District of Columbia, which reported a 2.15 percent growth rate to reach its highest population total since 1987. The nation’s capital has lost 20 percent of its population over the last half-century, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.

Five of the 10 fastest-growing states between 2011 and 2012 were in the West. Wyoming, the least-populous state in the nation, grew 1.6 percent to 576,412 people. Utah, Nevada and Colorado increased their population by about 1.4 percent, and Arizona gained 1.3 percent to 6.6 million residents.

Two states lost population during the year. Vermont shed 0.1 percent of its residents to 626,011, and Rhode Island dipped 0.03 percent to 1.05 million people. West Virginia, which ranks No. 3 among states with the oldest median age of people, added 0.03 percent to its population, giving it almost exactly the same number of residents as it had in 1960.

You have to put some other data together. I can't find any recent US inner city birth rates but if you look where the populations are there's your answer. you know the truth as well as the rest of us. You don't hear of Mary Sue on the farm with 9 kids anymore.

I just lost a nice post somewhere in the ethers.

I mentioned the data you post is about fertility rates in poor economies, and what Jad posted is about the influx of youth moving back into urban areas. There is enough data out there to argue specifics.

Let's just say I agree with you, anecdotally and say that the white population is in decline due to any number of factors, lower birth rates, more multiracial births, people refusing to fill out their census :) whatever, and that the minority population is on the increase, again due to any number of factors, lower infant mortality rates, immigration, more multiracial births. You seem to think it is a detriment to our country and humanity, this is where we disagree.

The links I posted were about "population increase"/growth of inner cities. Now you are talking about birth rates which is an entirely different matter.
