Cold water...no problem - Banana River 12-23-12

Joey and Dave met me at my house at 6:45am this morning to find a 1/4" layer of frost on the deck of my Pathfinder. Water was a chilly 53 degrees in the Banana River when we lauched. We knew the key to success would be to find pockets of warmer water and slow down our presentations. We worked the canals early for a bunch of trout and then started looking for reds over dark shallow bottom exposed to the sun. We caught our limit of three slot reds in short order throwing gulp shrimp and mirrodines. As the sun warmed the water our day got better and better. We finished the day with 12 redfish (mostly middle slot fish) and around 25 trout (all released, biggest went 25"). Tight Lines and Merry Christmas!
