I've done this countless times on my trolling motors where I'll use it on the transom of my 16 ft boat as in your top picture, and reverse the head for the little pontoon boat where it pulls rather than pushes. On most trolling motors I've used (all have been MinnKotas), there will be a hex nut, or some such thing, on the collar right below the head. Remove that nut and SLOWLY turn the head around. If you start feeling resistance, try turning the other way (it's the wires pulling internally ... there's not a lot of slack in those wires, but enough to turn the head 180 deg). There should be an alignment hole 180 deg across from the current location so it'll be really obvious where to screw in the nut once the head is rotated. Good luck.

Thanks, I was hoping it was something like that but I didn't want to try anything without seeking advice first
