Shrimp/grass

Surprised there have been very few if any posts on the dead grass in M.L. Heard thru the grapevine from a commercial shrimper that shrimp in the Oak Hill area are few and far between. Is this true? I have fished the upper Lagoon area 2-3 times lately since the water started clearing up and was surprised at the amount of dead grass. This area is from slippery creek south to Middle Island. I hope I'm wrong but if the grass is dead I think we're in for some bad times. Any opinions???

Fished upper lagoon area yesterday out of riverbreeze. There were some areas of dead grass but overall we saw way more healthy green patches and lots of life.

That is good news! I trolled the edges of the main channel for grouper and as the current got really moving there was LOTS of grass messing my lures up to the point I had to give up!! Guess I'll try in-coming next time. Anyhow, was very happy to see the grass, it gas green, was definately healthy>

Northeast of Beacon 42 there is a lot of dead grass, but there has always been a lot of dead grass. After a long time of not fishing the Lagoon (last time was before the great algae bloom of 2012,) I was afraid of what I would find. Fears of similar conditions that the Sebastian area is now dealing with haunted me. But, when I got there, what I found were grass beds as robust and vast as ever... and a lot of dead grass.

We may have dodged a bullet this time.

Well lets hope so at least. I fished off slipery creek a couple weeks ago, really the first time out since the water was clear enough to be able to see the grass. The area I was in the grass was all dead, no live grass anywhere. Hopefully this was an isolated spot.

    Any luck on the grouper?
