Where you secretly hope you won't catch a fish on the next cast? It puts you in a weird place in your head.
Had one of those days before this last cold snap. Did my usual routine of burning the last hour or so of daylight at a local pond only this time, they all were waiting for me. First cast, fish. One or two casts later, fish. I was hittin about two out of three, maybe three out of four, hooking up. No biggies. All between 1-2 lbs. Enough to make it fun on light spinning. Glad I had crimped the barb. Pulling 6-7-8 fish out of one spot. After 20 or so, it began to feel like work. I would bring them close in, then give them slack hoping they would spit the hook so I didn't have to reach down to unhook them. The bite will usually taper off at dark, but not that night. Finally. mercifully, the mosquitos gave me a reason to just walk away.
It certainly feels good considering all the times I've worked hard at it and still gotten skunked.

The only time I can say that I said to myself "I hope I dont catch a fish on this cast" is if either someone is driving by (boat or car) and I dont want them to see me hooked up, or if I am fishing with someone and I have caught like 20 fish and they have caught nothing ;-)
Otherwise, no.... I go fishing to catch fish
I had a day like the one you described on Saturday..... Think I got 21. Still though, I could not wait to get the Storm bait back in the water - as the initial "hit" is the best part!
