The Atlas jack Plate is a great product.I will take it over the BOB's any day.Way more solid no grease and no vibrations!
I googled Bobs jack plate vibration and low and behold there are some issues. Thanks for bringing that up to me.Looks like Atlas has updated their pump to a faster one since I owned one.
You might want to consider a Fly rod holder on the casting platform Frank. Since you do a lot of fly-fishing, it is very nice to have a rod holder designed to take the rod properly. I have one on the casting platform, and one on the console.
Attached is the rod holder I built for my Egret, made out of aluminum. You can however purchase these out of SS. I preferred the aluminum so I made my own.
Another excellent upgrade in my opinion is the SS rod locker locks. Food for thought anyhow.
Congratulations on your new build. Very exciting!
What size are you going to do for the rear livewell? The 2011 Frank was building when I picked up my 189 had a 40 something gallon livewell. But he said he can make it up to 60 gallons by having a livewell bottom that goes all the way to the hull. I would want the maximum size livewell. To me that is one of the most attractive features of the 2011 over the 189.
I like the 60 gallon live well as I do a lot of live bait fishing.
As for the 10foot power poles, I think they would get in the way as they are too tall.... I'd stick with 8 footer, unless you do a lot of deeper anchoring...
Love this thread.. can't wait to order one of my own!
When I get the pictures I will post a build thread. The staff has taken a bunch from what Frank told me. I will probably get them on a cd when I get the boat. The boat will be in rigging next week.
I would skip on the hds-7 only reason is that its going to be fresh on the market... garmin is the way to go...get the 4212 with a gsd 22 and a thru hull ducer...as for the sound fusion radio is the way to go i never ever see them come back, pair those with jl audio or fusion speakers (economically priced) and your boat is set...Ohh and i rig boats for a living if anyone has any questions i am more than happy to help
Thanks for the input. The Lowrance hds has been around enough to be in its third generation. The touch screen has been used two years under the Simrad name. Structure scan is in its second generation. The units are pretty well proven themselves. Its not like they just released new technology. If the 9 inch is released before they rig my boat I will have them do that one. Right now the 7 inch is the only unit available. I had the 740 Garmin on my last Egret and the 7 inch was fine .
Back on track. I was wanting to install an alarm in this boat for equipment and boat theft. Does any one have any feedback on any systems available?

I read the Siren marine review on THT. Seems like a solid product. I like the idea of checking the condition of my batteries, location of my boat, water level in my bilge, and knowing no one has removed a snap on my boat cover from my Iphone.

Do you have a 2011? I have my fiberglass yeti from my last egret. It is still in brand new condition. The Lowrance Touch has built in down and side scan sonar. I am not installing the transducer for it any time soon. I do not want one hanging off the back of the boat. I want to see if I can make a bracket to hang it under the motor so it will be used only at low speeds when the boat is off plane. Some guys mount them from under their jack plates. I do not need a jack plate in my area. The hatch in front of the console will more than likely stay single decker. I do like the idea of extra cleats. If someone has them do you use them? I usually tie my boat to the poling platform pretty easy.
How does this poling platform look ? I was told this is the standard now on the 2011. Frank delivered this boat to someone in Fort Lauderdale last week.
