Do any of your really think that in waves 5 & 6 only fishing weekends (and realizing the nature of GOM weather, ther we caught more fish than in the 53 day season we have in waves 3 and 4?????

With "Obama" Math everything is possible! Its the same math that
claimed the huge sucess for new England Catch Shares programs.
With the current Fishery Leadership in Obama's pocket (or is that the
other way around), they will take what number they "Want" to use,
then aggange them in a manner that fits there purposes. Forget the
days of 1+1=2.

Well the response I got back form NMFS (read this as Dr. Roy) was that in June & July most of the Gulf was shut down for the BP oil spill.

I am working on a breakdown a little further, but still...24 days between Octo and Nov to fish...and how many of those were actually fishable...
I am looking at fronts and sea conditions for the weekends we could fish, but I still do not think it is possible.

That is logical. Federal waters were closed and the charter fleet and much of the private fleet was making $1200-2400/day working for BP.

In the fall federal water opened and the effort increased. The mystery is why the catch per day was so much greater in November--a month when the tourist shut down. We generally had good weather all fall on the NE gulf

The NMFS simply comes up with new ways to change the formula, whether its the increased size of the fish or the "effort compensation" by us fishermen that allows them to manipulate the numbers to their satisfaction.

Enclosed is a graphic showing what the NMFS wants us to believe, and this year's figures are based on us not overfishing our quota. This supposed "effort Compensation" is not possible, not in the least, especially when considering that offshore participation has DECREASED over the last few years - NOT increased.

Completely bogus data, but that's what they need to make the squeeze play on us to try to justify Catch Shares / Sector Separation.

Don't have to dig to deep to realize that the sampling is not representative of the population.

Compare Al # of trips in waves 3 and 4---Did everybody just stay home in August?

Compare Al ARS/Trip wave 5 and 6---Fishing for snappers was 3 times better in Nov than Oct

Looking at Fl ARS waves 3 and 4----Snapper fishing went to **** in July???

Where did the La folks find all those snapper in July---Waters were closed by the DWH oil spill!!!

No fisherman in MS until Wave 6---guess they were all chasing tarballs.

These data aren't 10 or 20% off they are factors of 3-10Xs.

Pretty odd we caught 10X more in 15 days in 5 and we totally sucked in wave 4 - I also want to say I do suck at snapper fishing but DID NOT contribute to wave 4
