Question

Bimini Dream

I took this photo of the full moon setting to the west from our balcony in Bimini while the sun was rising in the east. Is this a normal occurrence or an event that might not happen that often?

HAppens when the length of day and night are "close" to being equal, (around the Equinoxes)....

So twice a year for a few days either side of the Equinox...

Thanks Steve for taking time to answer that question for me. I thought it might a a rather rare event

and since there's only one FULL Moon per equinox it is pretty rare.........(thats also the HARVEST MOON, (FUll Moon closest to the Autumnal Equinox if that sort of thing interests you)......so count yourself lucky enough to be in a place where you can actually see it.....cause most people are lucky to be somewhere where its possible to see one or the other....with very few being somewhere where they can see both at the same time....

I call that rare......and neat as all heck too...

Nice shot by the way...I like the palm tree in the foreground....

Now you will know to look forward to the event,maybe plan on being where you have east and west views.

happens every month to some degree...at least at my latitude.....
the only thing that really changes is the azimuth of the sun and moon in relation to their waxing and waning...
are you going for the moon rise or the sunset???

Tim I really wasn't trying for anything I just happened to look outside and saw a chance at what I thought would make an interesting photo.

i'm a sucker for a good moonrise or sunset...
the lighting around the full moon is usually interesting anyway for landsacpes....
