He's saying that its an ineffective solution which is easily worked around by those who insist upon doing so, and who will see this a invitation and challenge.
As far as keeping those who have no inclination to do anything but correct their posts, for example in the classifieds, it is extremely effective.

Classifieds would be better to put up another post in the thread if say, the price did change, it would then go to the top of the page for New Post. Just editing it in the original post would not do this though and it could stay on page 2, 3, etc. :shrug

There are plenty of legitimate uses for editing posts after a silly short window. Let's not be silly.
I just realized that you hold your cursor right after the end of your thread title (on the forum page where all the threads are listed) and double click to open that edit window for the title.
This is so stupid just change it back... like proven before in another thread if the people wanted to edit a picture after the 10 minute limit THEY STILL CAN. So you are pretty much changing NOTHING while pissing off some long time members that arent able to edit their posts...
"Give a man a fish and feed him for a day... Don’t teach a man to fish…and feed yourself. He’s a grown man. And fishing’s not that hard"
For the life of me, I cannot see why the admin and moderators of this forum are so incapable of seeing when they made a bad decision and changing it. Instead they dig their heels in. And that is the root of the problem.
Exactly! This us vs. them style of management is absurd! Especially on a fishing forum!
Not only would making a new post, to modify a classified, mean more work for the poster it is not user friendly (not that management appears to care)
Also it would make management look pretty good with greater post counts:nono ... Shift+R improves the quality of this image. Shift+A improves the quality of all images on this page.

I still say it is better to ADD a post to the thread, due to what I said earlier. Otherwise the post stays on what ever page it was edited on. Since it appears a title change is possible, you could also add something there also, but it still would not place it on the first page.

Being able to edit the post and title days later is pretty standard fare for forums which allow people to post classifieds, items for sale, and auctions. You simply go back and edit the thread title to add [SOLD] and everyone will see that the item is no longer for sale.
If they removed the limit all together, they would be admitting it was a bad idea. Their egos will not allow that.
It's so silly, though. They already made this mistake once and reverted it. I honestly have not noticed a huge inundation of egregious violations of the picture posting policy since that change.
They are reacting as if our forum is daily flooded with ****. The situation is nothing like that. The problem is not pervasive enough to ruin a forum feature. :banghead
They are offering inventive new ideas. You may not know that other forums and social websites, i.e. THT, Wiki, Google, FB, are constantly monitoring this site for new advancement ideas. You, my friends, are a limited few that are honored to belong to this esteemed forum.

No it's not "better" at all.
It makes no sense to force someone to read through a number of posts only to find something is already sold. No one does that.
With all due respect that is an unnecessary and stupid workaround made necessary to fix something else you determined necessary, but much easier to work around by those who you dont want working around it.
Gee, just like the old days.

Agree, unless it is a relatively new post and that is why I said they could edit the Title thread also with ++sold++ since that seems to be a new feature as pointed out by Michael. Mods have also been contacted to change the titles in the past. If there is a time frame on editing titles, I will see if we can make that available all the time, not that I have any power to do so.

Have them remove the post edit time limit too!
Admin CP -> Settings -> Options -> Message Posting and Editing Options -> Time Limit on Editing of Thread Title ..is the one he needs for the Thread Titles.
The editing of thread titles isn't a new feature, I've done it on this forum before all of this stuff happened. I was just surprised that he limited post editing to 10 mins and left title editing open. Then I tried to do it again and found that the title editing limit is something around 15 or 20 mins...

Lol.. they have to keep some kind of edit time to talk themselves into thinking they weren't entirely wrong about the subject.
