Wed 09/26/12 SLI and Thur 09/27/12 Little Mud Area.......Late report

Been busy lately, but wanted to check in with a quick report. Wednesday's plan was to go offshore with mullet and try for phins and tuna. Took a page from Long and swung into sandsprit on the way out and made one cast and which produced about 40 finger mullet. Started off shore to relocate them. Passed some small bonita schools in 40 ft, stopped at some small rips with frigates on them on the way to Push Button, but the area just seemed dead and lacked "character", btw, the dirty water was waaaaay out. Got to the south end of PBH and with a 3 mph north drift we deployed mullet in all depths of the water column. You know its not a good sign when you dont see another boat at PBH and didnt pass any on the way out. We worked the hill for a while with no love. Decided to run deep looking for clean water, went out to 710' and found some larger rips with green water {blue and brown} worked it with live bait with no reward. Started seeing some fast moving tuna schools come through, so we put some billy baits and cedars out and trolled, ended up with a decent skippy (10 lbs) who we invited home for dinner. Lost another decent tuna.

Thursday BitenHold and I headed up to the little mud area for some inshore action. We worked the west side, I worked docks with top water for snook while Nick worked deeper water for trout. He ended up with some decent trout while I struck out with the snook. I switched to a jig in an attempt to show Nick how to catch trout, I promptly started kicking his butt pulling in one pinfish after another (DOH). We worked it a little longer producing some more trout, jack, ladyfish, and some big blowups by unknown fish.
Anyway no pics, sorry, my time seems to disappear faster then ever. But I did finally enjoy my days off and had some good fun with dad on Wednesday and Nick Thursday, that's what its all about. Good luck to ya'll this weekend and be safe.
Fail to plan, plan to fail.......
