Need info. Tell me what I saw while hogging.
A couple years ago me and my wife spent a week on St. George Island first week in November. Went "hogging" , gathering oysters, in bay on east end of SGI in state park. While picking up oysters from the edge of the bay we noticed several places, holes in mud or sand, where there was a bunch empty oyster shells surrounding the hole. I'm thinking it was a Stone Crab habitat. Not sure. Can anyone tell me what was eating the oysters? If it was a Stone Crab can I harvest it also? BTW, we "hogged " some excellent oysters. It is a pure pleasure to reach down, pick up an oyster out of the water, take your shucking knife, open that boy and eat it right there. They don't get any fresher than that.
