Went in the St.Lucie last night to see how the storm had affected the fishing. We checked quite a few lights with no signs of any life. So we made a run and as we passed through the 10 cent bridge, I put my hand in the water to taste it. Not being too far from the inlet I expected it to be quite salty still, but it was almost completely fresh. That, obviously, is affecting the fish. We still got a few under slot snook off one of our best dock lights, but not much was going on so we left early.
I also went wading this morning off of Indian River Drive and the water had a much more salty. The topwater bite was actually quite good, but no huge fish. Lots of slot trout and a small snook. Should be an interesting opening night for snook season with the salinity levels. Not expecting too many to be caught, but I'm sure some people will get em! Goodluck to everyone heading out!
