I just watched Hunger Games.. it was pretty good

    Will arrive today via Netflix.

I actually just finish the final season (8th) of the fantastic show 24. I missed it the first go around. If you did also and like action, drama and more curve balls than can ever be thrown at you, rent this show.

    Has anyone seen The Killing??

The wife and daughter rented it the other day and I saw parts of it while they were watching. I missed the part that justified sending their kids out to kill each other. I also couldn't figure out the age range, how does a 12 year old girl kill an 18 year old buck? It does get your attention.

I have heard reading the book explains it much better. The first review on Netflix's told me this:

The entire concept of choosing 2 young people each year to compete in Survival games may seem kind of sadistic. These are not games where you get voted off the island but ones that end with one youth alive. If you have not read all the books you still may like this movie but you will not understand the whole concept which is unveiled in the next two movies. Since this is PG13 you will not see a lot of blood or extreme violence. You do have to understand this is a future time where the youth are being punished for a rebellion that took place many years earlier. The Capitol is a totalitarian government where the people have little food or comfort and are reminded not to ever rebel again through participation in the hunger games. These are games everyone watches and routes for their favorites. When Katniss (Jennifer Lawerence) hears her sister's name called out at the reaping she quickly volunteers to take her place. Whomever wins the games is given extra food for their district and there are 12 districts which must send two tributes each.

Flash... Deadwood is AMAZING! Watch all four seasons if you can get your hands on em people... They stopped making it even though EVERYONE rated the show 8-9/10. One of those things they should've never let die! It grips you and takes you in, so many characters you have heard off... Wild bill among them!

" The Killing" is great! Gets better as the season went on.Waiting for season two on disc...
  • Sling Blade 3 1/2 stars
I know Billy Bob wrote and directed and obviously wanted to star in it but he should have gotten someone else to play the lead character.
Granted, Billy is mentally handicapped so you think he'd be a natural for the part but he tried too hard and screwed it up. Just wasn't believable. How he maintained that stupid look on his face for the whole movie is beyond me.
Other than that is was a decent movie.
Kind of an anticlimactic boring ending though.
Billy needs to stick to acting and leave the writting and directing to others.
I think I'll downgrade my rating to 2 1/2 stars.

Check out the Illusionist and Primal Fear. Norton is one heck of an actor.
