Inlet / Lox water is probably the darkest/worst I’ve ever seen… Think Cuban Coffee (which I like, but not in my fishing area)…
Not a lot of bait at rock piles, but what was there was BIG, nice, very nice, if that’s how it’s going to be this weekend, plan on more time to fill your well.
Hit one of my fave Snapper spots, 65-70ft of water (about 2.5nm ENE of Juno Pier) Water clarity was 10-12 murky feet… Caught some Lanes and Yellowtails and I’m pretty sure a Goliath has moved into the neighborhood as I’ve been stripped about 10 times on my Trinidad TN-20’s, and even on my Penn 50 Wide (bent 3 Owner 7/0’s today) and lost the fish, so I gotta think it’s a big Goliath…
Also, I saw Samana about ¾ to 1 mile further WEST than I was fishing, and they stayed there all day (6 hours that I saw) so, that would imply the bit was good pretty far in… Samana isn’t going to work an area that isn’t productive…
Failed to boat any beast… That’s 3 trips in a row now… LOL…
Good luck to everyone this weekend… I’m heading out Friday as well and will post a report tomorrow afternoon…

And picked up a couple of bottles of very tasty rum to enjoy with those cigars

See you then Brett... Look fwd to it... By the time you get to your house, the water will probably be back to normal, in the Lox and offshore... We'll have to him this spot where this (or these) Goliath are and hook up some out of towners! LOL I'm getting killed by this/a few of these bastards! MORE LOL... 10-12 times now... I've bent probably 5-6 hooks on these guys.... crazy..... Soooo much fun... Hooking them up on the TN-20's is comical...
*We'll have to head to this spot where...........
Good luck... We did get a late start, 8:30AM by the time we got to the bait area, so maybe they were better earlier??? If you've marked the pilings/rocks on your plotter, the bait were ONLY on the rocks vs. in the general area... Just an FYI... As we all know, it's always changing...
Met up with Pain Relief to fish Boca/ Boynton. Tried hoos for 90 minutes no dice
Water SUCKED, nasty out to 550' but there was a nice edge.
Trolled the edge for 5 minutes got whacked by a wee-hoo near floatsam, and pulled the hooks.:banghead (but no big deal)
Ran into 90' off Dodge Wall to bottom fish. Get smoked by a big fish, then landed a couple short red groupers, coneys and sharks.
Here is where it gets interesting. On run back to Boynton, I decided to look for birds in the 600-800'
Find a NICE pack of terns feeding on small flyers / fry. See a HUGE bust and set out 2 feathers on 30lb.
STARBOARD ROD GETS SMOKED!!! I am talking 600 yards OFF the reel in less than 90 seconds.
I sent Josh to bow, and turned the boat to give chase. Josh was down to 5-6 wraps and tightened the drag and hooks ripped out. We were only doing 4 knots into the current, fish went straight to bottom and headed offshore. Josh swears it was a big tuna, and may be right. I have caught LOTS of wahoos and tunas to 80 lbs but this was ridiculous and upsetting. OK gonna take some time to "get over it", but that's fishing. I heard of one boat that scored good on fins out in 1500 ish, Second guessing my self:banghead

Wow........... 600 yards in 90 seconds... Now that was one hell-of-a adrenaline rush............ I'm sure there was someone tripping over something! LOL Great post man...
I am quite used to trucking along and ZZZZZ and all that.
I did not have a stop watch, but it did not take me much more than a minute to spin that boat, get angler on bow & try to give chase. Reel was a Talica 16 with approx 350+- yards of braid and 200 yard top shot of momoi 30 to a little dragon eye tuna feather
Not to beat a dead horse, but it was NUTZ.
I look over my shoulder, rod doubles, LINE EVAPORATES Josh grabs it from holder and screams "he's gonna spool me, as I turn!" I saw Josh reaching for drag (which was already set at strike at 10+lbs and said NOOOO!!!!, but it was too late. Hey, his perspective was, I don't want to lose the fish AND $150 in braid and MOMOI. I wanted to just about cry. I always was taught to "back off" drag when you fear he's gonna dump you. Sometimes less is more and fish "relax". I'm sure Pain Relief & Frank will relive it in their heads a few times. Sea Monsters!!

Ohhhhh, I fully agree... I'm getting ready to buy at least two Torsa 30's for some of the bottom fishing I've been doing... For sure, I wasn't questioning you... I felt your excitement, wished I was there....
rocking you up, or just working over etc.
It occurred to me I may have come across as a tad "defensive" did not mean too
"It was THIS BIG I SWEAR :angel :grin
