Catching Daytime Rolling Tarpon

I,ve go a Small Bay , Maybe 15/20 Acres that is just Slam Full of Rolling Tarpon . The Fish are there every Year (for 10 years anyways).
All Day long. They Roll all Day. 15 to 80 Pounders. Solid Flashes of Silver every time You take a look.
Think I can catch Them in the Daylight..I,m sure it,s a Mud Bottom. Will a half Mullet just sink into the crap...Or will They find it.
I don,t want to Fish it at Night....I,m busy catching Snook under the Lights then. Just looking to eat Lunch in this Mansion I take care of.Put a 3/0 in the Rod Holder ..And pump a 50 pounder in while I eat....

I know and fish a bay just like the one you've described. I do catch them...but it is not easy and i am yet to put a rod in the holder and eat lunch and catch one in there. They do not require night fishing, but they do require getting up early and putting in a lot of effort. I am the only one i have ever seen catch tarpon in there (with the exception of my brothers and my wife), and i think it is because i put in the effort and have caught on to a few of their habits. Good luck on them...they are a blast to catch with mansions as a backdrop and bystanders wide eyed and jaws dropped.

Yes they will eat. What FLTXhunter said put your time in and be rewarded. Here are a few I got video of earlier in the spring.

KEYSDAVE, your lionfish video from September 2010 is out of control!! I have never seen them like that, but it has been two years since I have been down for Lobster season. Looks like you need a pole spear so you can GO TO WORK!

They are inside Pennycamp park so no spearing of any kind. They can pretty easily be cought in a lobster net though and have taken alot out of those holes but still loaded with them today.

The fish in the bay your talking about are not in there to eat normally. Yes they do eat on some days, but why waste hours soaking bait to not get a bite most times. The smaller fish will eat good sometimes early and late in the day. On a incoming tide the bay is loaded and on the outgoing they leave to eat. I would focus on other areas as these fish are just there to roll around in the deep hole. Tarpon fishing is about the hunt and knowledge of where they will be depending on conditions, that bay is like catfishing in freshwater. Yes it's cool to see them, but they have been teasing people for a long time. Good luck

I've caught several in there. Just hit or miss. Try the south half of a catfish.

Im doing over 20 trips a month lately and I start every trip casting at rolling finicky tarpon. they do Bite. were jumping 2 a morning on average on artificials depending on the anglers skill level. The lures That have been producing the most are zara spooks and doa shrimp. I always have a rod rigged with a live shrimp for a 90% guaranteed hook up. after a tarpon takes a swipe at the spook I instantly back it up with the live shrimp and it gets crushed almost everytime. the really Big ones have been biting on live ladyfish, pinfish and mullet, mainly in the evening. I have had a few hook ups in the heat of the day on zara spooks none the less.
