Islamorada Redfish 7/24

Went down on Tuesday early to beat the mini season traffic. Turned out to be a good call. Launched at the public ramp on the Indian Key Spoil and ran a few miles into the back. First stop to check out tide and wind direction and we spot a group of 6-8 sheepshead working in 6" of water. All I can think is 'dinner' and start searching for crabs. Couldn't find one and couldnt convince these guys to take even my prettiest shrimp and crab patterns. Continued poling this flat and got our first red of the day at 22". Plan was work over towards Flamingo but we opted to stay closer to home with a long night bullynetting ahead of us. Next flat was pay dirt. 10 redfish boated to 30" and 3 shots at permit in the 30lb+ category on the same flat. Just goes to show you dont need to go all the way to Snake Bight to catch redfish. Catch 'em up!

Big Fish of the day

Typical Size

Laid up under a tree. One cast over a limb to encourage her into better position and one to put her in the boat. Or so I tell myself :grin

Not a bad backyard for the week

Opening night limit
30 years old, fishing Flamingo for 31 years
