Yellowtail out of Jupiter Question?

Been a few years... Like 6 since we lived in Jupiter and I'm a bit rusty. My son wants to go out Sat night and catch some snapper. Any suggestions, tips, pointers, Depth and I'll even take pm'd ideas on where but not required. Just want to put a 10yo on a memory filled night. Thanks!

Get a chum bag and a few boxes of chum (rip the end off the box and put it in the chum bag lasts longer) Try the inside reef 75 feet or so around the pier north or south if they dont start biting after a while make a move. Drift small jigs with the current pull the line off the reel dont just let the current pull it off the reel use sping reels with 12 pound pink line. No need to anchor.

With kids I like to fish chicken rig (2 or 3 hooks) with 3/0 circle hooks baited with squid. Plenty of action! Keep moving around until you find a good bite.

I got them pretty good in 88 feet straight off Juno pier. Also the chicken rig works great for grunts which taste good

Went out this evening about 6:30 to a ripping 3.5 north current. Dropped a brief anchor in 70+ e of the pier and couldn't make the bottom with 6oz lead so up come the anchor and out comes the drift sock. Bounced the bottom till sunset and grabbed a few small grunts and the wifey gets a remora off the back as she throws her bait before dropping but... Maybe the current will chill a bit tomorrow and we'll try again. If anyone is out tomorrow let me know what the current is doing and I'll base a decision then.
