Getting frustrated with fort lauderdale

I've been launching out of Fort Lauderdale for almost year due to convenience. I troll out and in, do some jigging on the wrecks, and plenty of casting when I see bait busting. I mainly use artificial and I'm not catching crap!!!!! I've been targeting spanish and kingfish with absolutely no luck.

If this was an AA meeting, this is the part where I admit I have a problem and need help... Everyone claps...

Can anyone offer some tips? Is Dania or Pompano that much different?

I fish Dania and Pompano every week. the fishing is amazing, I have caught wahoo, mahi, kings, tuna, sails, you name. they are there. both places are great for jigging and live bait. we head out each saturday around 5am if you want to join us sometime.

Where do you meet up on sat at 5am? I just got my first yak (Perception Sportcaster 12.5) and was going to head to Dania to do some Jigging this saturday. I assume you meet near the pier?

40 lbs leader, use the good stuff. Tie on a surface plug while shallow then a deep diver once ur in deeper water... Watch ur drag u need to get it right not to much and not to little.... Catchem up.

Sweet! I'll more than likely meet you guys out there. I've trolled Yo-Zuri Crystal minnows behind a popping cork in the ICW and around west broward with lots of luck.

Pottymouth- what type of lures do you recommend for the reefs off Dania? Like I previously stated, I'm a fan of the Yo-Zuri floaters and divers but I'm always open to listen to seasoned vets! Also, I've been jigging using an old Penn 7000 setup. I need a jigging rod, or lighter action rod. How much difference does the higher gear ratio matter in vertical jigging? I'm considering buying a Penn battle to put on a Trevala rod my friend is going to sell me. Thoughts?

Also, I have a few Williamson Benthos jigs and a Offshore Angler brand green mackerel that my friend johnny says the BFT's LOVE in the keys.

That's pretty much what I do. I've been using 60 fluorocarbon with a light #3 titanium leader. Maybe I can ditch the leader. I'm going to go on sunday weather permitting. Let me know if you guys are going to go to pompano or dania and I'm there. Thanks!

This sounds like quite the party gathering. Room for one more? Is parking close to the water where you guys usually launch from?

Dania is not bad for parking, I have a cart that we can trade off if we have to go far. I'll be meeting up on sunday. Join us!

I am going to go. I am assuming people meet up at the fishing pier about 5:30? I have only been by myself before so not sure but I'm much happier heading out with company, just for safety's sake.

GREAT Advice ! I usually hook almost all my kingfish on either a trolled X Rap close to the top ( mullett color ) and/ or a Manns stretch 25 deeper. Admittedly I dont live bait all at often though...
