I use 1/8 on the flats but mostly go weedess with owner weighted hooks.

1/8th for the flats and bigger as needed for bridges, jetties, etc.

I've been using the 1/8 as well but I guess I need to check out some owner weighted hooks. Lol

1/8 just seems super light to me. Any reasoning to using 1/8 versus quarter or half or 3/8. Other than weight, does it change up the action of the bait?

I just dont need it to drop that quick. Only in 1-3 ft of water. That jig with a DOA cal does the trick.

1/8 chart jig w/ doa cal in fiji ckicken...slayen'em.

I like to use as little weight as possible to keep the bait in the intended zone as long as possible while fishing the flats.
If I wanted to fish the lower third of a water column, I will use something heavier.
    1/8 is normal for me.

I tend to go with 1/8 slayer jig heads and weedless hooks.
If I'm fishing deep water, I'll up the wait a bit.
