Hickory Pass

I met up with forum members Will (jetorex), Chad (YakCapC4), Esteban (Capt Blackbeard) and Steve (smiller) at Hickory Pass this morning for some fishing. The day looked promising with an incoming tide for the 1st few hours to a very high tide. We went inshore and started the redfish search. That's pretty much what it was, a search. We hit every spot that normally hold reds and all we came up with were small snook, catfish, a small sheephead and a small jack. After that strike out, we headed for the pass. The snook became a little more willing and Will ended up with a fish that deserved a photo.

At the pass, there were more snook, but they all were very small. The tide by this time was ripping out of the pass and we stayed just on the inside. There were larger snook in the fast water and I watched a guy in a boat toss small pinfish in the same area and caught at least 25-30 snook while we were there. I pulled a YoZuri behind me on the way back for trout, but nothing. It was a beautiful day, but the fish mostly stayed home. It was fun talking to the guys and hanging out, and it was way better than working!
