On the Tampa side , by the friendship brigde, there is a spot on the right of the "wall" that has good mixture of grass and sand. Anyone had any luck here? Seems it would be a good area but I havent really done any good.

I havent personally fished there but i see people fishing by where your talking about a good bit... I usually take my boat out every weekend and fish the gandy area Although last Saturday was slow still had a good time... Good luck fishing

I reckon you're talking about the area near the Marine Reserve Corps building. There's a grass-bottomed channel that runs thru there but the sandy area can get pretty shallow. I've pulled a few reds and trout out of the channel but it's very hit and miss. I've only fished there a couple of times, though.
