Golf, school did not have a team, thank God that Dad belonged to the local country club, played 36 holes daily (18-lunch-18) during the summers, plus lessons. Shooting sub par junior and senior years. Went to college and shot 2 under first time playing school course. Was asked to join team but they did not offer scholarships and was required to pay for all of my equipment and such. Said no. Stopped playing for many years due to me screwing up and going down the wrong streets in life. Picked golf back up at 38 using 25 year old clubs (mine had been stolen years before), Couldn't hit the short game but had a drive that would revile the pro's (325-340) on average. Broke elbow and right arm will not straighten out making arm 1 inch shorter than the left. Lost the distance and turned to fishing.

Placed in the top 5 in the state 5 years in a row with a 2nd in 2007. My first year racing the Expert class I got 8th in the state. In 2008 I got 3rd in the southeast region of the U.S. I bad knee injury ended my racing career and I had to give up the 1 thing I was passionate about. I poured my heart and soul into racing ans was at the track 6 days a week. I have since filled that void by taking up fishing. Now that is the only thing I do these days.
I played Pitcher and 3rd base into high school and was a pretty good batter as well. I tore up my MCL and ACL sliding into second base and that pretty much ended my playing career. I have played in a few pickup games since then, but my knee still bothers me if I push too hard.
I lettered in 4 square and was captain in my jr and sr yrs in high school, got a scholarship and went to UF and played 4 square till I was a sophomore when my @ss hole fell out at a major sec tournament in front of 20,000 fans.

You put 360 cc's on that and I'd be impressed. :wink

Lettered in Cross Country & Track during HS like the rest of ya. Played club lacrosse before switching to ultimate frisbee in college. I was real solid in track and CC, top distance runner for my school Sr. year. My game time in lacrosse had a direct correlation to how hungover the rest of the team was. Ultimate was my favorite by far and I still play once a week.

Lettered in basketball and baseball. Not real good, just average. For football, I was on the "nut squad", you know, the guys that only got to play when you are ahead by 50 or down by 50. I think I weighed a buck fifty, and was a right tackle.

Karate since I was 9. Placed second in the nationals but eventually got side tracked. Was ok at most school sports but not great at any. Would rather be skateboarding and surfing.
Still surfing.

Why not skateboarding? With the new re-invention of soft, large, fast urethane wheels, trucks specific to longboarding, almost anyone can ride these days. Maybe not bomb hills, but still get out and exercise.

Cracked my first board of 7 years (homemade deck with ebay hardware) a few months ago and picked up a Loaded Dervish. I had no clue what a difference it would be, I can't get my feet out from under it. Seriously, I ride from the parking lot to my office. I don't have a real interest in bombing hills but riding around my hood at night with some tunes, a stiff drink and a lit cigar can't be beat.

**** straight I was, what were you in?
Was an officer in Beta

MAO(Math Honor Society)
Physics Club
History Club
CHATS(Challenge for Academically Talented Students)
Yes I was on the math team(scored highest on the written test for N FL in one)
Physics Team
A-Team(good article in the paper since I was the only one in the state to get 3 electric circuits right)
Spanish Team(oops, did I let that cat out of the bag?)
Pride award for Math and Science(top person as voted by teachers)
Most likely to succeed
Was taking classes at the Junior College before Dual Enrollment existed. Astronomy, math and MicroAssembler programming plus flying lessons at the local airport.
Dated the Ms MHS Golf (cutie)
"dated" the Ms Cheerleading and hung out with another that I probably could have married had I been an idiot.
I wasn't in tennis in school but played most nights I didn't work 5-11pm and then ran 10 miles after work on the nights I did work.
I also "hacked" into the grade system by watching the counselor connect with the terminal. I got the phone number/terminal settings, username and part of his password by watching him on the 3270 terminal and figured out the rest. I never changed a grade though.
I was busy, whole lot of nerd and little bit of social guy.

Was the baseball player of the year in 1991 in Miami (per Miami Herald). Pitched at FSU. Drafted in the 13th round by the Braves and played minor league ball for 5 years there. Got to Double A for a few years. Now when I'm not fishing or coaching baseball with my kids.....Golf!

You are right. I still have a skateboard and need to get out there more. Actually broke 2 ribs over this past winter skating! When you are being towed at full speed by a German Shorthair Pointer, and hit a small rock.... the dog doesnt seem to care enough to stop. HAHAHA.
I do get out there once in a while but not enough to say I do it as a sport (like surfing). Need to look into those longboards. Still riding my little Bam with indi trucks and tiny wheels.
Still remember when I broke down and got a surfboard with more volume (around 37). It was hard to face the reality.
Dont get me wrong. Long boarding is great and there is a time and place for it, but in the top to bottom chop we get here in FL, you cant beat dropping in late on a short board and still making all the sections.
Being I spent much of my 20s living in HI surfing literally every day, going from a 6'1 to 6'8, etc...was tough.
Longer boards were supposed to be for the bigger swells, not the bigger beer guts.
Finally got mad enough to lose some weight.
The Mrs found what she called a short board for older guys and picked one up for me a couple months ago. Channel Island 6'4 POD.
For all you who dont want to give up on the short boards (and may have pride issues like me) this board may be your answer.
Catches waves like a funshape, but turns and sticks more like a short board.
Check them out.
Enough babbling.
